Symptoms of Kidney Infection

Symptoms of kidney infection in women can be different than in men.  Kidney infection is more likely to be found in women primarily because of a shorter urinary tract, making bacteria easier to reach the kidneys

Kidney infection is often affected by lifestyle, diet and also urinary tract infections. Some research shows that diet plays a significant role in the development of kidney infection. When a woman is low in both protein and fiber, there is a higher risk of having kidney infection.  Women who do not get enough vitamins and minerals are more prone in having this disease.  This is why a well balanced diet is very important. If you are not eating a well-balanced diet, you can expect that you will have too much on certain vitamins and minerals and lacking on the others. When this happens, not only kidney infection may occur but also other medical problems.

Some of the symptoms of kidney infection may include pain in the abdomen, pain when urinating, blood in the urine, fever, vomiting and nausea. If you already have some of these symptoms, it is better to consult your doctor immediately. This disease is curable but it can also be fatal if you do not pay attention to it.

There is also a significant effect of kidney infection to pregnant women. They are at higher risk of developing this health problem because of hormonal and physical changes. Once the fetus starts growing inside the womb, it also takes some of the space of the urinary organs. Because of this, the bladder may fail to contract completely which may lead to blockages of urine in the bladder. It may also facilitate the growth of bacteria in the area.

The sterile urine will start to become contaminated which can be a perfect place for the growth of bacteria. The main cause of kidney infections is the E-coli virus. The worst thing about this is that a pregnant woman can lead to premature delivery. The mother will not be the only one that will be affected but also the baby on the womb. The baby can actually suffer from development delays, can have lesser weight and may also experience some complications. There are also cases wherein the mother also suffers from kidney damages and other complications after the delivery.

Women must be aware of this kind of health problem and they need to take necessary measures to prevent this from occurring. Pregnant women especially must be conscious on the health because they will not be the only one that will be affected but also the child on their womb. They need to undergo regular checkups and consult a doctor immediately if the symptoms of kidney infection discussed above are detected.
